Viable Skills
As all of you know Mom recently did a buh-jillion cheesecakes. For those of you who are not familiar with the conversion rate of buh-jillion it is roughly 40. Now I know, that you all know that I am not exactly stellar in the kitchen so on a normal day when mom is doing cheesecakes and the rest of her daughters (who are stellar in the kitchen) are around you will find me at the kitchen sink performing my dishwashing duties. Mom's kitchen works quite efficiently and here is why she has 5 daughters.
KATE: was with her hubby so she wasn't there. (not saying this makes us more efficient just she wasn't there so I can't include her though I hope she had fun with the family on Kolob, especially with AJ singing the whole way home. :)
AIR: Cut cheesecake, spun cheesecake, added ingredients, decorated cheesecakes, made name tags, and bounced around like a yo-yo to make sure everything was getting done the whole time making comments like "we could of made a pickle cheesecake", or "a twizzler cheesecake" or "where is the liquor cabinet?" Air by far is the entertainment when we do something like this.
LETTO: Cut cheesecake, took pictures, cut some more cheesecake, cut fruit, organized fruit, directed the shipping process, decorated the pretty cheesecakes (see Mom's blog for details) If mom is the General in the kitchen Letto is the Colonel. I say that because Letto keeps track of everything coming and going, and can do everything mom can do.I see future holiday meals being prepared at Letto's house.
MIDGE: Cut fruit, spun cheesecakes, CUT FRUIT, and ran the microwave. I don't know how she does it but she is a pro at using that blasted microwave. I burn popcorn even if i use the popcorn setting, but Midge can melt chocolate and not let it burn, she did the jams, and the glazes that go on top of the cheesecakes. Occasionally the Midge aids Air in comic relief efforts.
ME: As I said before I performed the dishwashing, rinsing, drying, put away cycle. Now normally I'm never asked to do anything that is too technical or easy to screw up, however, the other day I was told to stir... twenty minutes later I was still stirring and miraculously did not burn the glazes I was working on BUT did manage to put a fair amount of the glaze all over the stove top. which was a-ok because I'm a dishwasher I know where to find a rag to clean it all up.
All in all a very effective work system, you have one to direct (LETTO) , two to work (AIR&Midge), one to make sure things are right (Mom), and one to clean up :) (when Kate is around its 3 to work)
