My Hope Moment

Well this is my latest achievement. As i'm sure you all remember my little accident last March to my right ankle this is my left ankle after practice last Wednesday. I know its huge and it hurt a lot. (notice past tense) Like i said this was Wednesday, on Saturday we had a little 7v7 tournament. Which given the width of my ankle and the largeness there of couldn't fit in my cleat. However do to the amazing ness of one Sam and Doc Ray well i played on Saturday yes just a few days later i was bouncing up and down the soccer field to win the Hollins Tournament.

DC

Well ladies and gents this past weekend i've been camping at Ravenknob with the Mormons which was tons of fun, possibly the Hottest camping trip i've ever been on. But tons of fun. the weekend before that i was in DC with the Rays which is my adopted family out here, and we had tons of fun. Sam acts almost just like Ty just not as crude but we had a ton of fun the four of us. And while we were here well we snapped some pictures for all of you. But just for the record Washington (yes the Father of this great Nation) Got GIPPED!!! ok so you walk around and you see the Washington monument ooooo cool!!! tall building yes!!! you take a couple of pictures and move on then you look and you see the reflection pool and at the end of that wait for it, the WW2 monument fountain and all that jazz (also way neat) ah but after that you see a building set on a hill with pillars and if you look you kinda see Lincoln perched in his white marble chair. so George gets a sky scraper, and Lincoln gets a building, a HUGE statue of himself, and his speech on the wall!! Not saying Abe wasn't important but dude what about George?
A little about the Rays well Samuel Jeffry Ray is the Doc. He's a chiropractor but not like uncle Jay he has a more gentle approach. Its fascinating he uses instruments to realign your body. its way cool and much more effective (affective) than getting "popped" by your local chiropractor. Toni Ray is Momma Ray (and yes that's what i call her because she hates her first name.) and she well is a lot like Cokie Colton. Except she adds stains to clothes when she washes them. :) Next is Jacob Ray or as i call him Churchill i've never met him, because he is finishing up school at BYU-Idaho. but he's is hilarious and does THEE best impersonation of Jack Sparrow i have ever heard. Samuel Adam Ray is older than Churchill and the one who i run around with. He's mad crazy random and we have tons of fun together. he is also YSA president and since i'm out here all alone well he has to be nice to me. but i'm grateful for it because we have a blast.

Easter Weekend
As some of you know i spent my week and change at the Atlantic Beach (that's the name of the beach and the ocean) though that was awesome i did get slightly lobstered while we played 6 hours worth of ultimate Frisbee and Football. But while i was at the beach i realized some things which brings me to the topic of Ridiculous things products say...
-Like on Fat-free, sugarless, and totally tasty yogurt it reads can add sugar if taste is not desired.
-On everyday sunscreen- in the fine print it says may cause sunburns if so stop use. (!!!!?)so they made sunscreen which may CAUSE sunburns...
Oh man and my favorite thing that i saw was a lady complaining about her dog leaving his droppings all over the beach and she had to go pick it all up... however it struck me as this so they make bags for dog-droppings, and i couldn't help but wonder if that affected the pooper scooper market.?? (yeah thats economics for ya i think about everything as supply and demand)
Alright so in my Health and Wellness class we have been discussing nutrition first off people just so you know
-a muffin (smaller than the one you get as Costco) serves 3 people.
-Junior mints- a serving is 16 pieces
-One package of Ramon Noodles serves 2 people
-Tortilla Chips 12 1/2 chips.
-and finally a Hershey's bar- serves 3 1/2 people...
Ah no wonder why Americans have bad self esteem and eat too much. Our serving sizes are for half people

BORN TO RUN
Ok people there is a book on the market national best seller called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and this book is changing my life. !! i'm starting a revolution its called boycotting running shoes. Fun facts for you from McDougall's book
1- The best shoes are the worst
Runners wearing the top-of-the-line shoes are 123% MORE LIKELY to get injured
than runners in cheap shoes.
2- Feet like a good Beating
as reported, that as shoes wore down and their cushioning thinned, runners gained more foot control.
3- Alan Webb (americas greatest miler.) says "human beings are designed to run without shoes."
So the book says tennis shoes with "pronation protection" added gels, microchips, thicker souls and all that added stuff is BAD for your feet. essentially its like wearing 4 pairs of wool gloves and trying to pick up a penny. Shoes restrict articulation much like the gloves. More than that our feet were made to run flat footed people (aka dad) if he took off his shoes he would develop an arch, its the arch that absorbs all the impact,(well technically passes the impact from the body into the ground.) but back to shoes. shoes allow us to run sloppy, and have it "not hurt" but in reality the shoes are what makes us hurt (lower back pain, bad knees, pulled tendons, and muscles... and all that jazz) There is a little appetizer for you all but the best runner in Kenya are the healthiest runners because they don't wear shoes till they are 17. so their legs are strong and the muscles attached to their ankles (tibalis anterior, fibialis interior, Achilles tendon,...) are strong and developed to stay strong. so the book advises 3 days a week go run barefoot on dewy grass. (i'm starting this week i'll keep you updated)
