Anywho during this busy time in life my friends and I got to do a little service and have a little fun. We helped the IM aka Interstate Mormon and his friend Michael finish their photography portfolio's it was truly a blast, and of course most of the laughs came at my expense. I'll post some of the good ones when i get them but here are a few of my funnies for your enjoyment.

Standing out in the Wind with our freezing teammates isn't in our survival training book so we bailed into the belly of our charter bus.

Big Weekend

So near the beginning of the season my dear ol' coach Jay Callahan gave us a lecture (about hazing) and then gave us a speech about soccer that my teammates and i are still quoting. so here is the edited version of Jay-C's speech.

"We got China (Covenant College) Saturday, and I don't know anything about them except they're good as s***. Then we have Jamaica (Warren Wilson) on Sunday and they aren't as good and might show up high or something. And then we have have Agnes Scott I think of as Germany because their coach reminds me of Hitler."

This is just a bit of Jay-C's speech but he's kind of a fruitcake. As for our big weekend, we played Piedmont College on Saturday night and we won 1-0 Sunday afternoon we played Warren Wilson we won 7-0 and on Tuesday we played Averett University we won again 2-0. A little about my team, we have two seniors, Kim and Courtney, who play because they are seniors Kim is not even five feet tall, and Court is an alcoholic (no i'm not kidding though i wish i was). As for Juniors we don't have any that start. though next year we will have Tatum back from her ACL tear. Sophomores there are 5 or 6 of us that start (Megan, Celeste, Sabrina, Jazmin, Me, and occasionally Erica). Freshmen are STUDS there are 4 that are excellent (Mackenzi, Lexi, Stefanie, and Anna). However, are offense is LOADED and our defense is SOLID. Our bench is better than most teams starters.

Well this is what i've been up to besides playing that socialist sport soccer. This is me and Kellie making a cake for Patricks birthday. and the other is Me Christopher McDougal (yes the author) at his book signing.

NATIONALLY RANKED

Dear family check out our website (salem.edu) and go to the athletics page. :) Salem College Soccer is Ranked NUMERO UNO for goals scored on offense. Check it out its kind of awesome.

April you'll hate this

the article which a talked about in the post before this, caught a lot of your attention. Now let me tell you WHY the general public would agree. mostly because in his article he brings to the floor the words of professionals, and its published in TIME magazine he makes it sound believable. However, exercise IS vital to losing weight however he makes it seem like it's the ONLY important factor that is where he is wrong. Exercise will not make you thin if you are not watching what you put into your system. True exercise does make you hungry, obviously you just burned tons of calories and your body is fatigued. The author indeed uses the words of professionals but in what context were those words said? he gives no background to those said professionals. BOTTOM LINE Exercise won't make you thin, and neither will fad-diets because those are two things that rely on a bigger issue what we eat.
To truly lose weight it consists of a few factors 1-30 MINUTES of moderate/vigorous exercise everyday (if you can talk while you are exercising its not vigorous)2- Intake of foods which are HEALTHY (avoiding products with the first ingredients listed as corn syrup/starch) 3-WATER the average person should consume ATLEAST 8 8-ounces of water, and 4- SLEEP our bodies need time to rest and reset for the next day. A healthy amount of weight to lose is TWO POUNDS.
APRIL- the biggest thing these liberal, outspoken, orange-haired professors have burned into my brain is there are no short cuts. and to challenge questions. We can't cut out something and not expect a consequence later. Nor can we expect one thing we should have done and didn't to be compensated for by something else. BASICALLY these wiry, saucy professors focus on LIFE LONG CHANGES, we can't expect to lose weight if we only sporadically exercise, or if we only change our diets for a little while. These changes we make must be for life.

TIME Magazine

Recently i read an article written by John Cloud posted in the TIME magazine. Now i know this isn't unusual for me, but this particular article struck my medulla oblongata quite forcefully. The article title is Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin. ??? Yes this blew my mind also for i thought exercising helped us lose weight? (are you sitting down?) Newsflash it does not. Exercise is great for our bodies it helps our immune system, lowers the risk of heart disease, and diabetes, increases endorphins and... stimulates hunger? Thinking about it now it makes sense. On a day when we do not have morning conditioning i wake up about 8 stroll down to the Rat aka the Rafactory and eat a bowl of cereal and some fruit usually occasionally a bagel instead of cereal. Now on days we do have conditioning i'm up and at practice at 7 -8:30 then i head up to the Rat and without a doubt eat an omlet, a bowl of fruit, pancakes, and possibly a bagel. Though guarenteed i did just work out for 90 minutes but i just consumed a few thousand or so calories. which basically washes out my workout from that morning. If we look at calories and exercise on a balance scale (like the one they use in church for the Justice v Mercy lesson.) Our exercise is supposed to be heavier than our caloric intake. HOWEVER exercise stimulates our caloric intake. Ergo studies and (i'm sure this will be advertised at some point) magazines will now make the push not towards joining a gym but towards eating healthy.

side note the book Born to Run (the reason i have those funny toe shoes) author Christopher McDougal will be in Winston-Salem on Saturday.

Weekend :)

Normally my weekends are uneventful but since it is soccer season... Tonight was the opening games for the Meridith Tournament Salem played Peace. It was a fun game at first we opened up and scored early (3 goals in the opening ten minutes) and often. But once we pulled ahead Jay pulled his starters. So i rolled the pine for most of the game. However, i don't think Jay knew what to do when even with his starteres out we were still scoring!! It was an awesome game tomorrow however... we play Merdith. Kellie (aka the roomie) says HEY!!! Ho!!!

In Memory of my Little Sister

So i would just like to say that i don't have to specify which sister i'm talking about because i only have one. :) During one of our many random discussions we have at the lunch table todays was most interesting. Khadija (kaw-dee-jaw) in one of her classes had to write an obituary for someone close to her. Naturally she wrote one for the Professor who was teaching the class. NOT thinking they would have to read them... but they did. You may be thinking man this is hilarious which it was, but Khadi wasn't about to say her professors name so she said mine instead. Later i was in the Athletic lobby for work just sitting minding my own business. When i heard Khadi's name being said so naturally i tuned right in. Long story short Khadi's professor was talking to Fierke (aka my boss) and was talking about how Khadi had written a decent obituary. Fierke knowing Khadi asked who she had written it for and all the Profesor could remember was my last name... Fierke then called me into her office and introduced me to the professor it was possibly the most awkward moment of my life.

As for me here are things THAT I MISS
I miss running at the pace i want to run at.
I miss having perfectly functioning hamstrings.
I miss saying something about anatomy and getting weird looks. (you say it now and people now think i'm an expert or something)
I miss DRY HEAT, humidity today was 93%.
I miss my curls.
I miss being able to eat when ever i want.
I miss attending church every Sunday.
I miss Kellie (my roommates) mom's cinammin rolls...
I miss having a reason to actually do my hair and NOT wear gym shorts and a t-shirt.
I miss Ty's sarcasm and his opinion on males, Kate's awesomeness, Erica's stories, Scarlet's singing and her locking Tyler in the basement, Chase's bipolar funny moments, and Midge's eating habits.
I miss Dad. and I miss Mom.
BUT i love you. :)

Week 2

Well today was a good day. :) I went to the 1st ward today and sometimes i think they put all the good speakers in one ward... just saying. Anywho, classes are rather tiresome to be honest especially history if you need to know why ask Dad. BUT i truly like my intro to exercise science it's fascinating (and i'm in there with a bunch of anatomy nerds like myself) Recently i had the opportunity to go to Wake Forest and check out their physical therapy internships and everything else they have to offer. I was impressed, they have some of the most advanced tools, and techniques i've ever HEARD of. My life is slowly settling into to hecticity. I wake up head to class at 8, then 11, practice at 3 then back to class at 6. So tonight we had FHE (i know weird cause its sunday) So some new people were there from Tanglewood and not going to lie, NC may be spit on side-walk when it comes to Males but there are one or two exceptions this ones name is Chance, he's 24 and going to Medical school at Wake Forest.

In other news i think i'm going to try for Miss Utah after i graduate.

Week UNO

A lot of big things happened this past week. and pictures will come later i promise. Well first U.S airlines shattered my computer screen. Always something exciting happening in my life. We had 3-a-days for soccer which was actually quite fun and Jay and i finally had our mile. 5 race. . . in which he kicked me royal butt. Jay also became a father to a new baby girl 7lbs 4 ounces just a little lass. With DARK hair and lucky for her she looks just like her mama. Consequently Coach Ashley ran practice. I pulled my hamstring (2nd degree strain) and i'm off of it for a week. Which sucks but hey thats life sorry this is rushed but i've got a hall meeting love you all!!

Long Over Due -Inspired by April

You know on fast Sunday when the person sitting next to you starts digging in your ribs so you will get up and bare your testimony? Well April has been bugging me about our recent Lake Powell excersion so here we go. April dearest this is for you. 3 things I LOVED about the Lake.

NUMERO UNO- Lake powell is a time to EXPERIENCE NEW THINGS. Like finding it ridiculous to name a bracelet with a turtle on it Nick. Nick is not a bad name but i came up with names i think are a bit more suiting; For Brice-Nick, Branson-Headbutt, Abi-Tanny (short for Tanline), Ruby-Oowie or Whine, Lulu-Intense, Taylor-Knothead, Ali-Cat-Chester, and for the Tiny-Sleep.
NUMERO DOS- As all of you peeps know on Sundays we have TESTIMONY meeting up on the deck. Cody and the Berk were in charge all of our talks came from the last General Conference. It never ceases to amaze me that the talks we get are pertinent to our lives. ex. My talk was on Patience.

NUMERO TRES- A chance to OVERCOME FEAR. I'm not one to talk about my faults, however; Darrin and Pat were going cliff jumping. As some of you know i'm a bit skiddish around 5 foot ladders let alone 30 foot rocks jutting out over dark water which could conceal rocks... or other things which could end my life. For those of you who don't know this let me shed some light on the subect. Darrin and Pat found this cliff earlier on in the week they climbed up and Darrin immediately bailed off into free falling space without a second glance. Pat however, was not so keen to bail. Pat and i share this fear of heights and Darrin saw Pat back away from the cliff and made Pat give him his word that he would jump off when they came back. The phrase misery loves company is coming to my mind. Because later that night Pat discovered that i to was squeamish around heights and conned me into jumping also.

Pre-Lake Crazies

So the girlies got together Tonight (Wednesday) to paint tonails and make our LP2010 shirts. (which turned out way cute it was well executed thanks ladies.) Now we discovered a few things first Air gets really hyper around nail polish fumes complete with sound effects. Kate has dot issues. Letto is silent, Grandma wonders why the table keeps shaking we blamed it on her shaking (instead of on Let pounding the paint at the other end). Mom has foot fungus, and me well i'm under appreciated. :)

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the night and the night is still young but i'll let someone else have the grand pleasure of posting about it.

-Look at my dots!!! _they look seasick
-If my toes are ugly yours are their mother.
-They look like prison numbers... I wasn't going to say anything
-I found Five Dollars, which leads to "I found $100 dollars"
-Pop-eye the sailor man lives in a popsickle stand...
-mom has black feet... we are now contimplating our whiteness and our mothers.
-Grandma'ma kisses aligators... momma works on carborators
-I don't want to be black anymore- -Which is good because Air is racist.
-How did you know he keeps his welding helmet in the back?
-Grandma'ma CHEATS on aligators with multiple seahorses...
-I'm only ticklish on one spot and i'm not telling you where. . .
-erica my toes can't look like everyone elses... That's ok we'll cut some off.
-Tyler didn't catch the memo that this was an all girl party.
-its not straight... that's because it has character.
-Erica laughs just like mom this is the funniest thing i've ever seen.
-I shot him in the dark with the lights off.

Thanks for the laughs

A new Direction

Recently i had a grand ol opportunity to go to the Manti Pageant with a few older devils not to name names or anything but Kyle and Emily, and Erica and Brian oh yes and my date Layne. So the six of us piled into the truck (yes Brians truck so we were all "cozy") and played Scrabble Erica won i think for the first time ever, and nany only has one "n".

Now in my life there are very important people i would like to share two of them with you.

#2 Layne Jeppson who recently became my husband. how did this come about you may be asking well kids let me tell you. At the Pageant there are always a few misinformed souls trying to convince us lucky informed devils that we are not as informed as we think we are. While select few individuals were "bible bashing" with them. Layne and i were standing next to each other listening to how they responded to questions and this man Ed came up and started talking to us asking about what we thought on the discussion the other individuals were having. Me being all wise knew where he was heading eventually he asked if we were members of the Church. Which of course we said yes and we talked for a little while longer and he shot at us "Were you two married in the temple?" Layne turned into a lobster and i didn't know what to say so my arms flew everywhere gesturing to Layne and i and shaking my head (i understand now what it means to have your tongue bound so you couldn't speak.) so Ed assumed we didn't know each other. and Now Layne is my husband. sorry i didn't tell you or invite you. No hard feelings.

#1 In May i had to switch Airplanes in Tennessee at a very high rate of speed so i could make my next flight to the SinCity. I sat down next to the window (yes i'm brilliant i know) and realized when we were landing that i wasn't as clever as i believed so after humbling myself my dads ears came in handy and picked up this on my ear wax radar. "plane is landing i'm going to have hopefully fifteen minutes to get to my next flight to Vegas" I identified this man as the "BCBM" Brief Case Business Man. We landed and we grabbed our stuff i made the comment that i was heading to Vegas also and he nodded and said "well lets go catch our flight first one off find out where it is." We had a plan, he had a briefcase and i was wearing my tennis shoes. He made it off first and as i came out of the tunnel he was pointing and yelling like a man with turrets to the point where i almost ignored him. "This way this way go go go!!" We sprinted through the airport and i looked at him and at the gate then back at him and we took off racing for the gate entrance. (We were quite a sight i'm sure people were making bets). So me and the BCBM made our flight on time.

My Hope Moment

Well this is my latest achievement. As i'm sure you all remember my little accident last March to my right ankle this is my left ankle after practice last Wednesday. I know its huge and it hurt a lot. (notice past tense) Like i said this was Wednesday, on Saturday we had a little 7v7 tournament. Which given the width of my ankle and the largeness there of couldn't fit in my cleat. However do to the amazing ness of one Sam and Doc Ray well i played on Saturday yes just a few days later i was bouncing up and down the soccer field to win the Hollins Tournament.

DC

Well ladies and gents this past weekend i've been camping at Ravenknob with the Mormons which was tons of fun, possibly the Hottest camping trip i've ever been on. But tons of fun. the weekend before that i was in DC with the Rays which is my adopted family out here, and we had tons of fun. Sam acts almost just like Ty just not as crude but we had a ton of fun the four of us. And while we were here well we snapped some pictures for all of you. But just for the record Washington (yes the Father of this great Nation) Got GIPPED!!! ok so you walk around and you see the Washington monument ooooo cool!!! tall building yes!!! you take a couple of pictures and move on then you look and you see the reflection pool and at the end of that wait for it, the WW2 monument fountain and all that jazz (also way neat) ah but after that you see a building set on a hill with pillars and if you look you kinda see Lincoln perched in his white marble chair. so George gets a sky scraper, and Lincoln gets a building, a HUGE statue of himself, and his speech on the wall!! Not saying Abe wasn't important but dude what about George?

A little about the Rays well Samuel Jeffry Ray is the Doc. He's a chiropractor but not like uncle Jay he has a more gentle approach. Its fascinating he uses instruments to realign your body. its way cool and much more effective (affective) than getting "popped" by your local chiropractor. Toni Ray is Momma Ray (and yes that's what i call her because she hates her first name.) and she well is a lot like Cokie Colton. Except she adds stains to clothes when she washes them. :) Next is Jacob Ray or as i call him Churchill i've never met him, because he is finishing up school at BYU-Idaho. but he's is hilarious and does THEE best impersonation of Jack Sparrow i have ever heard. Samuel Adam Ray is older than Churchill and the one who i run around with. He's mad crazy random and we have tons of fun together. he is also YSA president and since i'm out here all alone well he has to be nice to me. but i'm grateful for it because we have a blast.

Easter Weekend

As some of you know i spent my week and change at the Atlantic Beach (that's the name of the beach and the ocean) though that was awesome i did get slightly lobstered while we played 6 hours worth of ultimate Frisbee and Football. But while i was at the beach i realized some things which brings me to the topic of Ridiculous things products say...

-Like on Fat-free, sugarless, and totally tasty yogurt it reads can add sugar if taste is not desired.

-On everyday sunscreen- in the fine print it says may cause sunburns if so stop use. (!!!!?)so they made sunscreen which may CAUSE sunburns...

Oh man and my favorite thing that i saw was a lady complaining about her dog leaving his droppings all over the beach and she had to go pick it all up... however it struck me as this so they make bags for dog-droppings, and i couldn't help but wonder if that affected the pooper scooper market.?? (yeah thats economics for ya i think about everything as supply and demand)

Alright so in my Health and Wellness class we have been discussing nutrition first off people just so you know
-a muffin (smaller than the one you get as Costco) serves 3 people.
-Junior mints- a serving is 16 pieces
-One package of Ramon Noodles serves 2 people
-Tortilla Chips 12 1/2 chips.
-and finally a Hershey's bar- serves 3 1/2 people...

Ah no wonder why Americans have bad self esteem and eat too much. Our serving sizes are for half people

BORN TO RUN

Ok people there is a book on the market national best seller called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and this book is changing my life. !! i'm starting a revolution its called boycotting running shoes. Fun facts for you from McDougall's book
1- The best shoes are the worst
Runners wearing the top-of-the-line shoes are 123% MORE LIKELY to get injured
than runners in cheap shoes.
2- Feet like a good Beating
as reported, that as shoes wore down and their cushioning thinned, runners gained more foot control.

3- Alan Webb (americas greatest miler.) says "human beings are designed to run without shoes."

So the book says tennis shoes with "pronation protection" added gels, microchips, thicker souls and all that added stuff is BAD for your feet. essentially its like wearing 4 pairs of wool gloves and trying to pick up a penny. Shoes restrict articulation much like the gloves. More than that our feet were made to run flat footed people (aka dad) if he took off his shoes he would develop an arch, its the arch that absorbs all the impact,(well technically passes the impact from the body into the ground.) but back to shoes. shoes allow us to run sloppy, and have it "not hurt" but in reality the shoes are what makes us hurt (lower back pain, bad knees, pulled tendons, and muscles... and all that jazz) There is a little appetizer for you all but the best runner in Kenya are the healthiest runners because they don't wear shoes till they are 17. so their legs are strong and the muscles attached to their ankles (tibalis anterior, fibialis interior, Achilles tendon,...) are strong and developed to stay strong. so the book advises 3 days a week go run barefoot on dewy grass. (i'm starting this week i'll keep you updated)

QUESTION!!

Did we have a relative that was in the army? (some where in south Carolina???) in the 1800's??? Mom could you check the book Shane and Alaina gave us for Christmas? My institute teacher President Berlin was in South Carolina and saw BRINGHURST on a list of the men that saved something... idk what it was i kinda was in shock that he knew my name.

ELDER BRINGHURST

Nope sorry not Jared but REED!! So this weekend was Stake Conference. IT WAS AWESOME!! but anywho during the Saturday night session we had some pretty awesome speakers including the Temple President Thomas and patriarch and his wife, our stake presidency President Marsh, Scott and Thomas (yes the temple presidents son.) and to my surprise Reeds mission president and his wife!! they were pretty awesome and well i had to pop in and say hello. They were really cool and said Reed has already made senior companion and is doing a phenomenal job! They both were really excited to meet someone who knew the "little" Elder Bringhurst, they said he was a sweetheart and very well mannered, but more importantly he is an outstanding missionary. Anywho a little update on some fam out here. :) love you all.

Mhm!!! Sons of Provo?

So this is week has been pretty amazing for me. The first counselor in my stake presidency is President Scott and he just happens to be the nephew of one Richard G. Scott. (as in yes the apostle) He is pretty amazing, and we talked for a while he has some pretty amazing stories. Next Sam and i were out and about and randomly met a women who we shared a bit of the gospel with, our iron man masks are a hit with the missionaries and i'm sure their families will love to see the pictures i'm sure they will be sending home to show off. Life is good, and i finally get to see the Princess and the Frog i'm really kinda excited. Well love you all. Famous Amos Cookies+Milk=happy tia.

ALIVE

I just realized that blogs are used to rant and rave so this is me ranting and raving. Family i am alive (just in case some of you were curious) I'm also STILL in North Carolina. (thanks for checking up on me.) Don't worry I understand if your phones are broken and you forgot how to use your email or if texting is beneath you. I UNDERSTAND. I get it if you don't want to call because you're worried i'll be in class. the funny thing about my phone is it shows missed calls (go figure) so i'd probably be able to call you back if you decided to call. I know asking a lot, but hey that's life. Sorry, just feeling a little isolated right now. But have fun when you are all together.

Wo April

I know THREE posts is kinda crazy especially for me, but anyways for those of you who don't know IRONMAN 2 comes out MAY 7 and me and a couple of "Mormon Peeps" are excited.

Do to our excitement, the lateness of the hour, and a possible a sugar high we bought new TOTALLY WICKED masks. Later we found ourselves "ghost walking" (aka for those of you who don't speak peep talk, walk as close behind a complete stranger as possible.) Normally what happens when they catch you is they get angry and yell at you, but for some reason they would turn around and i guess they couldn't find it in their hearts to yell at IronMan.

Strength and conditioning

Not to compare myself to the hulk but i'm pretty green... i was sooo sick last Saturday. But its 5 o'clock and all is well. we started strength and speed training here at school, and its a lot of work! The stuff i did over the summer is kiddie game compared to this. We life MWF afternoons, and have speed training TRS which isn't to bad but our coach guy is CRAZY and i have named him hitler. yuck 3 minute planks suck!

TWO in the BUTT

Ok i'm sure you have all pretty much heard about me getting hit by a tree. Now theories

-Ross believes i was smitten with a tree.
-Chase believes i was attacked
-Brent is basically convinced that i was ambushed.
-OTHERS- i was playing chicken with the tree and it won.

TRUTH- my friend Kari and I were coming back from one of our meetings about our speeches next Sunday. The weather was horrible we had snow flurries, and lots of ice and not to mention some pretty bad wind. Which coincidentally blew the tree over, i hopped back and it grazed my leg, and Kari got hit by a branch that snapped her femur. She is on crutches but is doing really well, though is sad that she is missing tennis season. But according to us both it could have been worse. Well i finally road in an ambulance to the hospital, and it was fascinating to watch those men work with Kari's leg. (it was gruesome and awesome) So kari was rushed away and i walked in after her, and just sat down outside the ER door. It was about a half hour later when they finally noticed me and took me back to give me some stitches and LOTS of shots (6 to be exact.) two in each arm and two in the butt!! But not to worry all is well, the schools insurance covers everything. the sad part is it ruined a pair of jeans. :( sad day. well thought you would want a picture before the stitches. Which come out on Thursday. :)

school...

K so school update (ty you can skip this one its kinda boring.)

My days start at 6 AM In the fitness center. Monday, Wednesday and Friday i have distance, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday i have sprints. After I run, i have plyometrics and lifting till 8.

Shower.. usually but stinky tinky well :D

I hit the books till 10 then i have Calculus. Now see i'm not good at calc as it is, so by all means give me a teacher that sounds like Mr. Mee-ah-gee from the Karate Kid. (not kidding he is brilliant though.)I keep waiting for him to slap his hands together and "heal" my brain.

ah school goes on, Work was pretty busy here in Admissions, me and Laloni just kinda did our own thing we are the only first years that work on the 3rd floor, the rest are seniors and oh my gosh they are semi-ridiculous senioritis IS WORSE in college. there are 12 of us that work up here and yea when 10 people trip up the stairs you know it was a long weekend, and if you ask them about it they wont remember. ah well its all good.

Oral Communications is interesting but its a LOT of work, and our teacher says "Right" just about 200 times in an hour, and then tells US not to use verbal fillers. Ah Wellness 4 Life is maybe my favorite class, i get credit for running and lifting :) and the in class work well its stuff i already know, we are going over muscles and bones and systems i can safely say i'm doing well in this class.

Japanese Customs well its BORING but i don't have to lose points for not drinking green tea. Thank goodness.

Janitor Work well i have better days, but its not so bad i get to drive a cart around so thats pretty cool, and i don't mind vacuuming, and sweeping floors, its the scrubbing the showers and toilets that i don't like, Seniors are disgusting. and cleaning up vomit is NASTY. (sorry Scarlet) no its not that bad all the time, mostly i do what Brian our Groundkeeper asks me to.

INSTITUTE- ah i look forward to Wednesday nights they are a blast!! President Berlin is amazing and way funny.

SNOW

This past weekend I went on a bit of an adventure but had a great time. I was snowed in in Mayberry (yes the very same Mayberry where little Opie Taylor grew up its right off Andy Griffith Highway HUGE tourist attraction - i'll post some pictures soon) Here is a list of "little" snow fun...

-FREE SLEDS- From the Academy closet at 3 AM down Academy Hill

- Unusual SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS- a bench at Denny's :) (sleep followed shortly after open mic night. 40 of us got snowed in there. and yes they did give us free pancakes) and then later i slept in Mayberry at Sam's house with the YSA's because they shut the town down due to 16 inches of snow.

-Balconies and SNOWMEN- out Mims and Vabs window there is a deck that wraps around Gramley Dorm. We technically aren't supposed to go out there but well it was untouched snow. Naturally we built a little SNOWFAMILY and turned them so you could see them from the road a little later Public Safety came to Gramley and chewed us/me out.

-SHE THINKS MY TRACTORS SEXY- Well to scrape the snow/ice off the roads they use a tractor well they so foolishly parked this said tractor outside of Gramley ... Naturally we built a snow fort around it. about 10 feet tall (we stole ladders from the student closet.) all the way around it and then we might have sprayed it with a hose so it would freeze during the night. . . :)

-NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED/PAY IT FORWARD- While the YSA's were snowed in, we took it upon ourselves to go shovel an older couples driveway. When we finished the Grandma comes out and tells us she called a friend down the road and told them we would do their driveway "just as soon as we were finished." we couldn't say no, so we hiked up the hill and after several tries all of us made it to this house. WITH A HUGE driveway i'm talking like the Davis's in TQville drive way.(from where you turn off the road) needless to say my shoulders are sore but the hot apple cider and hot chocolate and bread and soup when we came back was amazing.

-SNOW CANCELLATIONS- So it dropped a lot of snow but not like it does say north of Cedar back home i assumed church would still be going. I was wrong when it snows or even ices they cancel church. So we had church at Sam's house (reminded me a lot of Lake Powell.) it was really neat. The testimonies were awesome.

-BABCOCK BARRICADE- Babcock is the other freshmen dorm now see the cool thing about Babcock is if you set the alarm off on the basement exit (meaning you open the door after 11:01 pm) no one can use that door at all so everyone has to use the front door. :) Thinking of tractors we built once again a snow-wall about 4 feet from Babcocks only entrance. Now this one was 5 feet tall, (limited amount of time Babcock is on main campus.) and we ice-packed it SOOO good, and then we hid in Clewell (sophmore/junior dorm) the next morning and watched everyone try to break it down. Then they brought the tractor... and i received a notice on my room's door to meet with the Dean later that day...

oh and yes i'm sure i'll get chewed out. But hey its supposed to snow again this weekend. though i don't know how much i'll get to play in it because Sabi and I are coaching a team at a clinic friday and saturday.
