break

Today is our "quiet" day and all i can say is "BULL CRAP". i'm being serious when i say there are too many excited chicas here to be quiet. Gees Kellie's room mate is sooo loud its making me laugh. Last night they got mad at us because we were "disrupting their sleep patterns" i want to tell them they are disrupting my study patterns. Ah tomorrow is thursday. and i really can't wait till 10:30 i'll be done with my test and getting ready to get out of Salem and head to Raleigh with Vab and Mims. Then off to the Raleigh airport to fly to Chicago, where with my luck i will get stuck due to bad weather. :) life is good, cold and i can't wait till i get home.

Thanksgiving 0-2

Ok family well Kentucky was kinda cold but still had a rather good time. Kellie's family got the grand opportunity of traveling with me. We left on Wednesday morning and i crawled into the back seat of their suburban cuddled under my blanket and instantly went to sleep. I woke up when the car stopped for food. Much to John Youngers' pleasure unlike his daughters i eat. But yeah it was a 6 hour drive but we got caught in traffic (i was told this) for two hours. Thanksgiving for me was small. Kellie, her sister Shannon, their parents and me. were the only ones at dinner. (WEIRD) Dinner was delicious and mom i have a recipe i want you to try. its delicious. Friday Kellie got sick. (dehydration lots of up-chucking)So i stayed in the hotel and took care of her while her parents spent time with Shannon. Kellie was better by Saturday. Saturday night we went to the Tennessee v. Kentucky football game and watched Kentucky send it into overtime and then lose it 3 minutes later. (line man who can't block.) Ah but at this game i went the rounds with a young man standing behind me who was going crazy and yelling at Kentucky (who he was cheering for.) He saw me smirk after he made the comment "you can't try to play the way they do back West this is the East coast and we play football." i laughed at this. He later went on to talk about how great Alabama was which of course i laughed even harder he noticed and called me out on it. I of course brought up Utah v Alabama in their bowl game last year. He told me i should sit down because i probably couldn't even find Utah on the map. Which in turn fired me up a bit. So we argued a little bit and he slowly backed down. His dad mean while was standing next to him just laughing asked me when we were done arguing where Kellie and I were from. Kellie said Connecticut. and explained why we were at the game. And then i said Utah. i've never seen a glare like that before in my life. then i found out ByU beat Utah oh yeah i'm still hearing aboutit.

KFC

Hmmm well family this week is a big week. Thanksgiving is on Thursday and though i would love to be home to celebrate with you all. I find myself traveling to Kentucky with Kellie Younger and her family. Bare in mind Kellie is from Connecticut, but her sister plays in the band at the University of Kentucky and this week is their rivalry week they play Tennessee on Saturday. Speaking of Rivalries the Holy War is this week and i know i wont be able to watch it. BUT GOO UTES!!! Ty wish i was watching it with ya bud. Family have a great Thanksgiving (midge eat some pie for me.)

QUESTION: In Kentucky is Kentucky Fried Chicken still Kentucky Fried Chicken or is it just Fried Chicken?

FIN DE SEMANA

OK i had a lot go on this past weekend so Thursday night i had a date with Joey it was a lot of fun, we went rollerblading, and to "where the wild things are". loved it and had a great time. Friday was the semi-formal which i was talked into going the day of. So Mercedes did my hair (kinda well she curled all of it)Ariana gave me a dress, and MaryIvy took pictures. Ok so you could have taken a date but you didn't have to we all went together and had a great time. Naturally, i didn't ask anyone to go with me. BUT Taylor Lundy (reminds me of April) introduced me to one of her friends two weeks ago his name is Brighton, (6'3 thick dark hair, blue blue eyes, and a smirk.) He is also Jewish which is why we were introduced because we both are religious. Anyways long story short he was there with a couple of his friends because Taylor asked him to bring some friends and come. Anywho we had a lot of fun danced a couple of times, laughed a lot at drunk people, and then almost started a HUGE cat fight between me and his ex... kinda freaky i was almost stabbed with a stiletto, (way cute black and red ones to be exact.) After that i was escorted out of the building and into a limo and taken back to Salem. Yeah awesome night.

If your interested. OH gees!!! hey Ty did you watch the BYU v. New Mexico women soccer game?!! if you didn't YouTUBE it, because it was pretty brutal.

ah

Well soccer is over now. Salem finished 4th in our conference. We lost to Maryville on Friday and they later went on to beat Piedmont and win their 9th straight conference title. Recap on the game, it was intense and the most fun game i have ever played, it was probably my best game of the season. Even though i'm disappointed the season is over but now i get to look forward to everything else... what that is i'm not exactly sure.
Well yesterday i went to church (go figure) its been a while since i've been able to go to all my meetings. But i got to yesterday, i love my ward they are truly all so nice and almost overwhelming with welcome but hey i'll take that over being ignored. Oh yes i was just recently called as one of three YSA (young single adults) teacher... ... i'm freaking out about it. I've never taught a lesson, i feel completely inadequate i'm the youngest in the class and i'm supposed to teach them!! ? what? how does that work... ? oh well its all for the best i'm sure. i'm excited i teach my first lesson on the 22... and i think i'm speaking on the 29th. The bishop loves to do that to me. Well life is busy, i spend a lot of time with my YSA group they are for the most part a lot of fun. though Richard, Jordan and Stephani are probably my favorites. :) love them dearly Steph has two kids who are sooo cute. Jordan is always coming up with get rich quick schemes which are hilarious (Man-Paper was his latest.) Richard reminds me of Riley Scow. lol. but smarter like Aunt Nancy, he does a lot of everything, including a paramedic, river guide, fireman, paratrooper, EMT, he actually recently just finished a book "My House on the Beach" and currently he is a motivational speaker. he is certified in just about everything imaginable. lets just say we have interesting conversations. Well that's life its good, kinda busy kinda hard, but that's just how it goes. love you.

Ah yes i will be posting a picture here shortly of my latest TATOO!!! yes thats right a tatoo. sorry i had to give in but i think you will agree it is tasteful. Feeling a little deep

So i've been thinking about the phrase "you never know what you've got till its gone"
This week is our last Sunday game :D i was reflecting on how my Sunday life has changed from since i left. I miss being told to go to church. Which is crazy i never thought i would say that. But i miss the people around me wanting to go to church and wanting to follow our Savior. Though my beliefs are not challenged anywhere near as much as they were at the beginning of the year i wish i was back home. Where i didn't have to be strong because i wasn't tempted. I could skip church and no one back home would know. But i feel like the church is the only thing i have to link me back to home. I was soo blessed and i never really thought much about it.

UPDATES

-Met some pretty awesome people in Raleigh (Roll-eee)
-Found my dream home.

Fall Break

Well last night we played Maryville, #1 in our conference, and they are amazing!!! holy cow i just wanted to sit back and watch them play. They essentially played a 3 touch game and it was clean, and fast. However despite all that their defense wasn't the fastest defense i've ever seen so it was really kinda easy to beat them to the ball. So yeah. It was lots of fun. Right now i'm waiting for my ride to come so i can go to Raleigh and spend the break with Vab, and Mary Ivy. They truly are amazing.

General Conference

well family. I'm supposed to be at the Richard's house listening to General Conference but my ride bailed on me so i'm in my dorm listening to it on my computer. I loved the Bishops Burton's talk after L.Tom Perry the ITY Virtues.

VABs 19th B-Day

This is who i usually hang out with, (minus rachel). It was Virgina's b-day so her mom and godmother took us to dinner. After which i ate the BEST store bought cake i've ever tasted its called Edible Art in Raleigh. DELICIOUS. Then VAB's mom and godmother taught us how to Shag. its a form of dancing. lol it was hilarious especially when this drunk lady came to dance with us.

Checking in!

So since i've been here i've been to Georgia, Virginia, and Alabama. Soon we are heading to Tennessee. :) I was excited to see all of these places but it all basically looks the same. lol. But its great i get to spend a lot of time with my teammates (which occasionally gets annoying) but its good. Oh yes, this past weekend + Monday. We lost to Hunnington on Sunday... wonder why? It was not a good game for any of us, luckily we are almost done with our Sunday games. On Monday we turned around and whomped LaGrange 6-1. I scored two and Sabrina netted 2 also. I don't remember who had the others. I'm excited for General Conference this weekend, i think all of the single adults are going to the Richards house for most of the weekend lol. I don't fit in with them though. The guys are 21+ and are just socially awkward. And the girls well they all went on missions so i know absolutely nothing when it comes to them. which i hate. But true they have had many experiences with the gospel but sometimes what they say completely contradicts what i was taught. when i ask them to explain what they said, they just kinda look at me like i'm retarded. Most of them do that Brooke doesn't she's my favorite. lol. She's kinda like a combination of all of my sisters combined which is kinda weird and kinda awesome. well don't stress to much with the wedding being this weekend. I love you all!

F-A-L-L F-E-S-T its Fall Fest ya'll!!

Today was Fest and oh my heck it was INSANE!! Little history we don't get Labor Day off, so we get today off instead. Basically this morning everyone was woken up to someone trying to break their door down. The Seniors, who at this point are ROARING drunk, come with what ever they can hold, with the exception of hammers, and beat on our doors. Seriously my bed was shaking. (so was i). It was 5:30 in the morning when they started pounding and i was in my room by myself because Celeste decided to sleep in Megan's room to finish their Big Sis poster. So i was alone in my room and i was freaking out!!! i kept having this vision of the seniors somehow forcing their way into my room dragging me off my lofted bed into the hallway and making me fight someone. It was terrifying. So when they left i went and slept on the floor in Mary Ivy and Ariana's room with Rachel and Bethany. :) (no they are not soccer players.) at 7 we did chants and cheers, at 9 there was a parade, and then we were free till about 1-3 we had games in the gym, Bryant Hall, which was a BLAST!! i really enjoyed that even though my team never won. Then we waited until 7 pm. and then we had our skits. Now each year they have a fall fest theme this year Was the Magic of Disney. So each class picks a movie that goes with the theme. Seniors-Peter Pan Juniors- Mulan Sophomores-Beauty and the Beast and we picked Mary Poppins. We design shirts and just about everything you do should relate back to your movie. Anywho at 7 we performed our half hour skits. Our's was pretty hilarious and almost complete improv. :) Logan and I were two of the main characters so it was a whole lot of fun. Funny enough we won Best Skit. lol. which i guess never happens but hey when your good your good. Now i'm going to bed before someone else comes in wasted. night and lots of love.

Weather!!

I miss the SUN!! oh my gosh all it does here is rain!! Makes since that it should but gees two days straight of non stop rain is just annoying. What's worse is we don't even get thunder or lightening here (like we could see it anyways over all of these stupid trees.) Yesterday we had a game against Averett University. We played a weird formation and i had a WEIRD position.

Jazmin
Mckayla Tatum Megan
Celeste Sabi
Kim Court T
Tori Tara

Basically i played an outside mid that didn't have to come all the way back on defense, It was fun because it gave me a lot of space to work with i had the whole sideline. :) Anyways Averett was probably the meanest/dirtiest team i've ever played. They foul HARD and OFTEN. I'm not talking like little fouls either i'm talking full fledged knee high slide tackles, Linebacker moves. . . endless amounts of hard hits. Kaitlyn and I both got hit around pretty good and our ref in the middle i swear was scared of the other teams coach he wouldn't call anything. But it didn't matter we won 5-1. I had two assists. :) Oh yes but this game was played completely in the rain. I'm not talking about it raining and getting the field wet and then drizzling every now and then. I'm talking it down poured on us the whole second half. And really opened up the last 10 minutes. Needless to say i spent 3 hours in the pouring (fREEZING) rain. I now am the proud owner of a sore throat and fever. :( i'm adding Cough medicine to the list, along with sore throat spray stuff. love you,

Soccer homework

Life sucks right now i'm not going to sugar coat it. Between teachers who think their class is the only class that gives homework, losing the Salem Classic championship, and sucking at writing life isn't too fun right now. But anywho's here are some pictures from our game against Bryn Mawyer we lost 2-1 in overtime. But they called back my goal because i was "offsides" SOOO WASN'T. (I can't help it everyone else is just slow but if you dribble past the defense how are you offsides?) anyways love ya lots miss you!!

SIGH

Well school is making all of this fly by. It feels like i've been here forever. :) but i know i have barely been here 2 weeks...? Life is kinda crazy right now, between school, homework, soccer, and work-study. I almost have time to breathe its good though i like to stay busy. Though its even more hectic on campus right now because the juniors are picking their "little sis" from my class. Thank goodness i already have mine so i don't have to be out all the time and occasionally hiding from juniors that i don't want to be my "big sis" its kinda cheesy but its a tradition and honestly i like it. My big sis is Latricia, yes Ty she's black, :) she's an artist and the RA on my floor, Gramley 109. She's is absolutely amazing, she is a non-denominational ... enlighten me on that one. So she is Christian, and is really open minded to just about anything when it come to agreeing with the Bible. I told her the BOM never conflicts and that it reinforces the words in the Bible and we now actually have scripture study together. I like her she is a very gifted artist also. (mad jealous) she is also on the volleyball team. Anywho that's what's going on right now.

SOCCER

We played our second game on Saturday against a club team from Alice, Vegas, i mean VIRGINIA. It was fun, we completely controlled the game, the only difference was they executed twice on our defensive mistakes. We had eight corner kicks and i got my head on two of them but my fat head pushed the ball the wrong direction. Anyways i started again, as the left outside mid, then i was pulled because i wasn't playing so well. The second half i started as a left forward and i scored a few minutes later, off of a B-E-Autiful cross from Tara Madden. After the game, we went out to dinner with the opposing team they were cool, but for the most part we really didn't associate with them. Coach Callahan sat with Erica, Kellie, and I. He is soo socially awkward kinda like my oldest sister at times. :) but he's cool i like him. Though no matter how hard i try i never get told good job, which is probably a good thing, maybe my head will get smaller. lots of love!

2013 RETREAT!!!

So Friday we didn't have soccer practice because the first years were going on a Retreat to the "mountains" (big hills with trees on them.) It was truly a lot of fun for the most part. I taught them the Sammuri's Unite game (hi ya!) big buttay, bust a move, and of course Butt Charades. It was hilarious and very entertaining to watch some people step out of their comfort zone. Friday night we spent it in "cabins" 15 girls in one cabin. wow lots of estrogen. Anyways that was an experience i really don't want to relive, most of the time the girls informed everyone in the tent about their sex life, even bragged about it. (i was trying to sleep, but was simply mortified by everything these girls had done.) When they discovered that i wasn't asleep they asked me about my love life, and i told them that i was raised to believe that premarital sex was inappropriate=WRONG!! They just all kinda looked at me like i was from a different planet. and in a way i am. I wasn't raised like the rest of them. I have standards and well some of them don't. The girl in the bunk across from mine, said my answer surprised her, but she thought it was cool. :)

Tradition

Salem has TONS of Traditions like Big/Lil Sister. Essentially, a junior picks a 1st year and takes them under their wing for the next two years. Fall Fest is the big one that everyone is talking about, and we are reminded about it everyday at lunch. The seniors stand on their chairs and yell "How many days till fall fest? 31!!" then they sing, "31 days till fall fest a he** of a day so drink chug-a-luga drink chug-a-luga 31 days till fall fest a he** of a day." kinda random kinda crazy, especially when they fall off of their chairs. school is good Wake Forest finally had a football game and i was stuck doing homework. Math is kicking my butt ... oh wait everything academic is kicking my butt. ah well i'll deal with it.

Orientation

Probably the most fun I have had is going to soccer practice, or pulling late nights with the team. The rest of my days are spent in orientation meetings, or with my Signature Group. Orientation is boring and well my signature group I'm definitely the minority, most of the girls are really nice, but one little chica and i butt-heads just a little. Her first words to me were "Are you a Mormon? I hate Mormons." Naturally i grinned said Yes, yes i am LDS. Which opened up the next classroom discussion on Mormonism. giving Miss Mormon Hater a perfect opportunity to contradict everything and put in her own two cents worth on my religion. Ug that was annoying and frustrating. Soccer is going great! i absolutely love to play with these girls they are a lot of fun, and usually give me a challenge. We have Opening Convocation tomorrow night. Its our first semi-formal activity. Its also where the 1st years take the Honor Code. I'm looking forward to that.

LAST SATURDAY:
We had a game at 10 so we got to sleep in till 8:30 it was nice. Once we were on the field it of course started to rain (like it always does out here.) and SOAKED us all. Then it stopped right as the game started, but it rained just enough to make everything wet which was no bueno. We lost the game but Jay liked what he saw, and i played RATHER well. :) I like it Jay was our center ref and corrected us while we were playing telling us what he wanted to see and how to fix it that was cool. um... YEAH we play again this Saturday against a Virginia CLUB team so that should really tell us a lot about where we are at as a team. On Friday the 1st years (not freshmen that's sexist.) have a little GET AWAY to the Mountains and will return Saturday MORNING.

LIFE here is going good we start school on Wednesday and today i have meetings with my counselor, DOCTOR P...something something. He's kinda cool. Well besides GHOST stories about my dorm, dropping a bed, and having to wait in line for FOOD its not so BAD. :D I love you all!

3-a-days

Ah well our 3-a-days are over and we have our first scrimmage tomorrow. :D i'm way excited, we actually might get to sleep in for an extra hour!! Morning practices are brutal its all conditioning for a solid hour fifteen. The first day we ran two miles and ran up a "hill" the next day it was interval sprints (sprint for 30 sec. rest for 30.) Those really kicked my butt and then 20,40,60 yarders, and today it was more interval sprints and then 20,40,60,80 yarders muy bueno!! the 2nd practices are all ball work type stuff maybe a little 5v5 but mostly the technical stuff is during this practice. My favorite though is the 3rd practice because we scrimmage :) As far as soccer goes i think i'm doing really well. but i guess i will find out tomorrow. Hey love you all! and i'll be expecting my first care package soon!! ;)
FUN FACTS:
mine and Celeste's room STINKS
I have TWO bloodblisters
There is no such thing as the word ANYTHING, (they all say nothing)
sleep is VALUABLE
Jay actually has a sense of HUMOR :)
I LOVE my team mates (with one exception)
I miss HOME.

THE WORST PLANE EXPERIENCE

Well kids I’m in typing this while I’m in the airport waiting for my flight. I met a really nice family and they showed me where I should go, thank goodness for nice people. After that I was sitting with a bunch of yankee fans they had this old man with them he was hilarious, I could have done without the Yankee boys though. On the plane I met the man who coined the word “Vegas’d” Salvador something or another he was really nice and gave me someone to talk to while our flight out of Vegas was delayed for an hour and a half. And that is where my troubles began. That flight after it finally took off was good, at first I h had a woman who was drunk sitting in the aisle seat on my row, she found out I was from Utah and dropped the F bomb I kid you not every sentence and I’m not exaggerating. So my new buddy Sal and I talked while she cussed up a storm. Then she yelled at Sal, and told me there was no way anyone could know what they wanted to do with their life at age 18. So of course our next conversation was about school and physical therapy. She ended up leaving us before we took off and switched to a “more fun” seat which was A-ok with me. Now after that flight which I froze to death on we got off and since we were delayed I missed my flight so It was rescheduled I was sent down to the wrong gate and missed my rescheduled flight. Then I got chewed out by the lady who re-rescheduled my flight who had hair like Sasquatch. After that I went and parked my bubble-butt in F6 where my plane would come in about an hour. Finally a nice easy flight!! Not too shabby, it went fast I slept the whole way until we came over Detroit, it was so cloudy! We sat above the clouds looking it was incredible I wish my camera had batteries in it I would have taken a picture it was really neat to see. Ah the flight from Detroit to Greensboro North Carolina was good no incidents. Until I got off and discovered that my baggage had never left Minnesota so I am without clothes for the time being the whole team though is being way cool there are eleven first years and we get along really well. Celeste Pantuso my roommate is awesome. She’s kinda quiet but that’s a good thing I like her a lot.

The team is awesome!! We had our first meeting which explained this fundraiser we are doing L yeah we all know how great I am at those. Practice was good this morning. We ran two miles and then did sprints up a little hill. I like it a lot. The buildings here are absolutely amazing they are old brick and there are old fashioned fences to I mean ancient, seriously the coolest pictures could be taken here. I’ll try to post some soon.

1st mosquito bite

1st lost on campus

1st party

1st night

1st chit chat with the team

Luggage arrived yesterday so nice! i have clothes and it actually looks like i live here. Though i need some pictures. Three a-days are hard but i like it. We do 3 minutes sprints ug those are kinda difficult, but its good. Sorry it took so long to post this i've been without the internet since i left, and i just got my connection cable.

My Previous Life

Well ladies and gents i leave for Winston-Salem, North Carolina to go to school on Tuesday. Well actually to go play soccer for the Salem Spirits. But hey an education is a great excuse to play sports. Assuming i don't get red-shirted. :( Anywho's i'll tell you more about it when i get there. Oh wait "Little Dev" is what Dad said i should call this so since i ALWAYS do what i'm told whala. I'm kinda dreading the 3-a-days and the two hour time change, i guess my room mate will have to drag me out of bed the first couple of days. i am looking forward to meeting the team and eating 5 times a day :D. AH what really is scaring the most is going to Vegas to get on an airplane and then switching twice. i'm basically terrified so pray for me!
